Canoeing the Allagash and St. John rivers is among one of the best wilderness experiences in the northeastern U.S. Although these two rivers lie within the boundaries of a commercial forest, they have been protected to secure their nature and integrity. Come and paddle our rivers and experience what so many people return to enjoy each year.

Chase rapids at Churchill Dam is classified as class II, gear and or canoe can be shuttled around by waterway rangers ($10.00 fee). There is a 300 yard portage at Allagash Falls - 3 miles north of Michaud Farm.

Camping fees are:

  • Residents: $4.00/person/day -- Nonresidents: $5.00/person/day on Allagash River

  • North Maine Woods camping fees:
    • Residents: $8.00/person/day..........Nonresidents: $10.00/person/day on St. John River
  • North Maine Woods gate fees:
    • Residents: $6.00 -- Nonresidents: $10.00
  • Transportation rates are based on 4 people, add $20.00 per person with group larger than four.
  • Canoe & Kayak rental, 17' Old Town Discovery includes paddles and vests, $18.00 per day.
  • Cabin rental is $60.00 per night for 4 people and $10.00 for each additional person.
    • Camping on our premises is free.
  • We are located in Allagash, 1/4 mile from the confluence of the Allagash and St. John rivers.
