Whether you’re an experienced angler or new to fishing these waters, our trips are designed to be approachable, flexible, and deeply rewarding. Each day brings the chance to explore pristine lakes, hidden ponds, and flowing rivers while targeting iconic Maine fish species in their natural habitat
What to Expect
Northern Maine offers exceptional fishing opportunities across a variety of environments. In spring and early summer, we focus on trolling and casting on larger lakes. As summer progresses, fly fishing on smaller ponds and streams becomes a favorite way to experience these remote waters.
Fishing locations may include:
-
Large, deep lakes ideal for salmon and lake trout
-
Remote ponds known for brook trout and Arctic charr
-
Rivers and streams perfect for fly fishing
We fish larger waters from our Grand Laker canoe, while remote ponds and river sections are accessed by Old Town Tripper canoes, allowing us to reach secluded areas few anglers ever see.
All fishing gear is provided, with the exception of personal items such as waders and a valid Maine fishing license.

Target Fish Species
Northern Maine is home to some of the finest freshwater fishing in the Northeast. On our guided trips, we focus on the following species:
Brook Trout
Aroostook County is one of the last true strongholds for native brook trout in the eastern U.S. These fish are the heart of Maine fishing—found in everything from cold, winding streams to remote ponds and big lakes. Whether you’re casting a fly or working a shoreline, brook trout offer a classic, rewarding experience in beautiful, quiet places.
Arctic Charr
Arctic charr are rare, special fish found in only a handful of waters in Maine—several of them right here in Aroostook County. Smaller and more lightly colored than brook trout, charr live in cold, clear lakes and are a true “once in a lifetime” catch for many anglers.
Lake Trout (Togue)
Lake trout, or togue, are powerful, deep-water fish that call Northern Maine’s big lakes home. These fish grow slowly, live a long time, and put up a solid fight. Trolling cold, clear water for lake trout is a great way to cover water and experience the scale and solitude of our larger lakes.
Landlocked Atlantic Salmon
Salmon fishing shines here in the spring, especially right after ice-out. Found in large, deep lakes, landlocked salmon are fast, hard-fighting fish that are a favorite for many anglers. The season typically runs strong through early summer, making this an exciting time to be on the water.
Muskellunge (Muskie)
Muskellunge are the ultimate challenge. Often called the “fish of ten thousand casts,” muskie are powerful predators found in select Northern Maine waters. Chasing muskie takes patience, persistence, and a bit of luck—but landing one is an experience you won’t forget.
